MS and Medical Trauma (sort of vent)
I've never heard anyone talk about this and I'm feeling very alone here but does anyone else experience PTSD or some sort of medical trauma because of their experience with MS and hospitals? I was diagnosed 3 years ago, when I was only 14, and they hospitalized me 3 times for MS treatment during that period. It was very painful, both physically and mentally, it was definitely the worst period of my life. I've been going to a therapist since then and have been diagnosed with PTSD. It's just that whenever I mention that to anyone they don't understand how they relate to one another no matter how much I explain. Do you all feel like this or did I just have a really bad personal experience? I'm still struggling very much with my medical trauma and no one gets it.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. Especially so young. I definitely have quite a bit of medical trauma some MS related some related to my other health struggles. I’ve been doing EMDR with my current therapist specifically around my medical trauma and that’s helped. I have heard/ read others experiences in the broader disability community with medical trauma which has felt validating.
@chefmyerlemon Thank you, your reply brings more comfort than you can imagine! :] I'm glad that the MS community shares experience with medical trauma as you say, it makes me feel less alone in this.
