Things I've tried for MS... reviewed by an idiot (Part 2): The Agile Manifesto š¤£
I know... bear with me.
I work in software, and somewhere along the way I realised I was accidentally managing my MS like an Agile project.
š Break big problems into small ones.
Trying to "beat MS" is overwhelming. Trying to go for a 10 minute walk today? That's achievable.
š Adapt to change.
MS doesn't care what was in your diary. Good Agile teams don't panic when plans change, they adapt. I've started treating flare days the same way.
š Continuous improvement beats perfection.
You don't need the perfect diet, perfect workout or perfect sleep. Tiny improvements, repeated over months, are surprisingly powerful.
ā” Inspect and adapt.
Tried something that didn't work? Fine. Change it. Cold plunge helping? Keep it. Smelling salts had you believing you could punch the sun for two seconds before needing three days in bed? Maybe retire that experiment. š
šÆ Deliver little and often.
Six minutes on the treadmill. A short Pilates session. A healthy meal. One conversation with a friend. Small wins stack up.
The funny thing is, I spend all day helping software teams deliver projects using Agile, then realised I've been using exactly the same mindset to live with MS.
Turns out the Agile Manifesto isn't just for software. It's not a bad blueprint for living with a chronic illness either.
Has anyone else borrowed an idea from work, sport or another hobby that unexpectedly helped with MS? š

OMG! I'm in IT also but don't use Agile very much. It doesn't adapt well to my job overall. I did take the introductory class where they told us what it was all about. Other teams use it regularly and I get pulled into their sprints every now and again. But you're right, Even with what little I know about it - I'm managing my MS the Agile way! Thank you for the insight!
I borrowed time management & applied those thoughts etc to energy management to try to mitigate the effects of fatigue. I now only do the things important to me & 'sub-contract' others - like getting a cleaner for the house and a laundry service to do my bedding etc.
