The brain is the general and the body is the troops.
Problem with MS is sometimes the generalβs fucked. π
Orders are delayed, communications are down and the left leg has declared itself an independent country.
You can walk into the gym feeling 2/10 thinking, What the fuck am I doing here?
But the gym can have this weird cannonball effect. Train smart, and you can walk back out feeling 6 or 7/10. More awake, less stiff, brain online and suddenly the troops have received some vague instructions from headquarters.
Start ridiculously simple.
π 6-minute treadmill
Start comfortable and gradually turn it up. You're not qualifying for the Olympics. Six minutes. Get warm, get moving and see what sort of body you've been issued today.
ποΈ Pick 3 or 4 exercises
Leg press, seated row, chest press, curls. Couple of sensible sets each.
Then GO HOME.
That's the important bit. π
Don't suddenly feel better and think:
"Fucking hell, I'm cured. Better do legs, chest, back, shoulders, CrossFit and drag a tractor across the car park."
That's how today's 6/10 becomes tomorrow's 1/10.
And sort your food out, but again, START SIMPLE.
Don't live like a monk for two days, surviving on chicken, broccoli and the spiritual essence of an almond...
then Wednesday night you're found elbow-deep in a family bag of Doritos ordering a large pizza. π
Just aim for your 5-a-day, don't consistently eat more calories than you need, and try to hit a sensible daily protein intake.
You don't need a diet that requires a spreadsheet, six Tupperware boxes and the emotional support of a boiled egg.
Mostly decent food. Mostly sensible portions. Enough protein.
Same rule as the gym: consistency beats going mental for three days.
Train smart. Eat smart. Pace yourself.
Take the little energy boost and ride that wave into the afternoon. π
The goal isn't to leave the gym destroyed.
The goal is to leave with more in the tank than you walked in with.
The general might be fucked...
but we can still feed and train the troops. π«‘πͺ
