Gabapentin side effects

Hi, I've recently stopped taking amitriptyline and transitioned to gabapentin. I have bad edema in my feet and ankles and it seems to be getting worst since I've stopped the amitriptyline. I'm not sure if it's a withdraw effect (I've been off it for 2 weeks) or if it's a side effect of gabapentin. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Thanks, Sue

Hi! I just saw my primary doc on Friday for the same issue. He actually took me off the gabapentin because of swelling in my feet and legs. He said that the two chief complaints of people that take it are edema and memory issues. Everybody is different of course, and mine was a combination of being on my feet for work and the meds. I have started taking Cymbalta to see if that can work better. Hope you feel better quick!

Hello Simonaz - I just saw the word Gabapentin on your message. I too have PPMS - and also Restless Leg Syndrome. I've been taking Pramipexole for RLS for over s years - although not what it's for - My consultant keen that I take Gabapentin rather than Pramipexole because it can have its own drawbacks. However I find Gabapentin not effective for me at all - even at 3 by 600mg per day and have just contacted my MS nurses and asked if I can revert to pramipexole. I know most people it's thr reverse but for me this seems to be best.
