Vacation with my family

My family is going to Puerto Rico for vacation this winter. I have SPMS and everything is difficult. I’m thinking of staying behind because everyone is doing something I’m unable to do. We did Disneyworld and kids and hubby had fun while I shopped since I couldn’t do rides. I have been to Disney many times and rode all the rides. I was sad and felt alone. I have suffered from depression since before I knew I had MS. I don’t want that same experience and thinking of staying home. I have been to PR before. Thoughts?

Only you can decide. It’s what you are comfortable with. But, your family should be willing and able to incorporate activities you can do together. I no longer ski and my husband and adult children ( in their early to mid 20s) go annually. I now stay behind and I am ok with that, because I prefer going somewhere tropical and we do that both with just me and my husband, and as a family. It’s just a question of what you are willing to miss out on, and what you are willing to plan to modify and accommodate your needs. Cruises are good as they are accessible, safe even have accessible cabins for wheelchairs and rented scooter etc, and have medical staff on board. Resorts can be less accessible, but you research to find what works for you.

I would go. Getting out of the house is great for depression. Focus on the things you can do while other do the other stuff they want to do. Get walkie talkies and facetime 😊
