Can an injury trigger foot drop?
Can an injury trigger foot drop if someone has never experienced foot drop before?
Background: my toddler fell off the sofa and when I leapt to catch her I twisted my ankle... days later I'm experiencing heaviness in my foot and ankle. Im no stranger to ankle twisting - im in double figures now but this feels different.

As far as I'm aware foot drop is due to muscles weakening due to age or lack of exercise and also the muscles recieving scrambled signals from the brain. This is why FES machines actually work. My GUESS is that the muscles are compromised as part of the healing process from your injury and coupled with scrambled signals due to a legacy neck lesion are giving you symptoms that you would not normally have (due to it being too mild to notice under normal circumstances).
