Mavenclad and lowered immunity

Hello, I’m new here and just about to switch to Mavenclad. I’m getting contradictory info re. the effect of mavenclad on immune system. On one hand being told that I will have significantly fewer T and B cells so will have much less immunity to infection. But on the other, I’m being advised that I can carry on life as normal and don’t have to isolate etc. Very confused on how careful to be !! Any advice?

Hi, I started Mavenclad this year with my first two doses in March and April. I had the same concerns but it was suggested by my MS nurse I did not need to be overly cautious. Just take sensible precautions - keep away from obviously ill people, wash hand regularly etc. I have experienced no problems however I work from home and don’t have to mix with too many people. I have recently had my month 3 blood test and my lymphocytes are low, as expected. Hopefully they will now be starting to recover a little and improve by my next bloods. And I’m even more hopefully that Mavenclad will holt any further activity. Good luck with your treatment, hope all goes well.

Hi! I also started Mavenclad this year, I had my two doses in February and March. The biggest issue is making sure you're not sick when you start the medication, I had to wait until I was completely healthy. My MS team also gave me contradictory info, but honestly, everything worked out fine. I was so scared to start the medication, but I feel great now, no side effects other than a mild headache. Make sure to stay hydrated and follow general safety measures like staying away from sick people (no need to wear a hazmat suit though), other than that, you should be all okay ◡̈
