Switching from Ocrevus to Kesimpta
Well I think that this has been the shortest time frame I have ever been on ANY! type of medication.
I was diagnosed in March of this year with heart palpitations due to the medication. I gave it fair shot and I just can not deal with the anxiety attacks feeling, the off beat of my heart once in awhile, and everything else I felt while being on the medication since my December dose (first actual full dose. Preferred the 2 week doses). When my nuero heard that, he said we were switching. I told him I had convinced myself that I can handle the once a month shot, he said that was his next question (I have a fear of needles yet you see my tattoos, piercings and scares from piercings I took out, would tell you otherwise 😅). Im also not someone who tells my nuero I need to switch meds very often. This is the second time I had to switch meds because of some sort of issue with it (first one was tecfidera I became a not so nice lady).
My nuero said that he's switched clients from Ocrevus to Kesimpta for this reason but never Kesimpta to Ocrevus because of any heart issues I've mentioned.
Now the only reason why I went with such a strong steroid, was because I had been off medication (smoking cannabis to control my side effects) for 5 years with 2 relaps not even a year apart....my nuero, hubby and I figured this was the best option to make sure it hasn't progressed. Well what we thought was the right choice, in fact wasn't the right option for myself. Im not gonna lie, there's was days I looked at my husband and said, 'I don't regret taking the infusion! Had I known this is what would of happened, I would of rather done the once a month!' But at least we are now going down hopefully the better route for me, hubby and our family.
My experience with Ocrevus is to share my point on it and I am not here to tell you not to take it. I am all for you trying it and having it work for you 🥰
I’m swapping to Kesimpta from Ocrevus too! It’s not controlling the MS well for me and I have a horrible reaction when I’m having it (throat closed up if they infuse it too quickly). I’ve also been having palpitations - thinking back it’s happened time I’ve been on it. Now I’m wondering if it’s linked! X
They are basically the same anti-CD20 dmd, only difference is the way of administering, infusion vs subcutaneous injection. 💉
