When MS Rings in My Ears
One MS symptom I don’t hear discussed enough is tinnitus—ringing in the ears—which can be linked to MS when nerve pathways involved in hearing are affected. For me, it isn’t just a faint ringing; sometimes it becomes tremendously loud and overwhelming. There are times I have to wear headphones to hear the TV because somehow the sound helps soften or balance out the ringing. I even discovered one night, while trying not to disturb my upstairs neighbors, that using headphones made it seem less intense. It may sound like a small thing, but constant ringing can be exhausting. Just another invisible MS symptom many people don’t realize can be part of this disease.
