Hey everyone, my first post!
Little about me/my MS.
Born '94, UK, first relapse/episode was 2017, officially diagnosed 2019, first lot of meds didn't help as new lesions appeared, started Mavenclad in 2023 and so far so good.
Today's issue.. Ive been off sick the past 2 days with this cold/flu thing doing the rounds.
I never milk being poorly, you should never cry wolf.
I've kept my boss in the loop and today all I received was a message saying 'right ok'
Am I silly for feeling belittled? He himself said to me the other day "health comes first" so I'm trying to look after me.
I will be going into work tomorrow, better or not, to prove a point, but why should I do/feel this way?
Sorry, I just need to get this off my chest.
One of those days I guess :(
First of all, well done you for getting through your first round of meds not working and finding another because the setback you feel from that in itself is enough to throw anybody! I’ve had the same this year with being told my Mavenclad wasn’t working so I’ve also had to find another treatment but so glad the Mavenclad is now working for you more so! Secondly, no you are absolutely not silly for feeling any way about it, as a manager and person literally in charge of your mental and physical wellbeing surrounding work and knowing your immune system isn’t that of the usual employee on top of the other set backs we face, I think that’s pretty out of line. It takes nothing to say a simple “I hope you’re better soon keep me in the loop”. YOU are more important than any job. There are millions of other jobs, but only one you. If you aren’t well enough tomorrow please don’t force yourself to go in, see how you feel and decide based on you and if you’re up to it, not because you feel you have no choice. Forcing yourself to do more than you’re able could set you back far more and need even more time off, so please think of you first x
You need to look after yourself your just a number in work and can be replaced look after number 1 and it starts with you.
