Hypnosis and positivity
Hi all just wanted to share my own experience of trying to get positive with this awful disease!
I’ve been absolutely rubbish at meditation and mindfulness, so decided to look at ways to help.
For the last 4 weeks I’ve been attending for hypnosis and this week it feels to be a bit of a light bulb moment. From feeling very depressed and not wanting to do much. I now feel I have better sleep and feel a lot less anxious. The meditation I do each night of 20 minutes really does feel to be making a difference. Anyone who is feeling really low at the moment. Maybe this is something to consider.
I've never had success with the meditation/hypnosis route, but I did do a couple of exercises over the years that helped. 1) Disconnect from the identity that you're the person with MS. I tell everyone (and myself) I'm the person who loves ABC and does XYZ with their time. 2) Use a professional therapist or ChatGPT to vent. Do not expect non-MS friends and family to understand. 3) Do as much of the things I love doing and manage the online content I consume carefully. I still have lows of course, that's inevitable when you feel like crap most of the time, but I feel largely in control of my mental state.
I find mediation can help take the edge of the emotional pain I feel . Talking group therapy is amazing for mental health as you don't feel alone x
