Honestly you'll be fine, you've got this. I was warned I might get a bit feverish on my first dose, and I did but I was warned so I knew it was coming. It happened about 12 hours after, I went really shivery and achey, but it literally lasted an hour or two and never happened again.
It is daunting, I read side effects of everything I take and I'm convinced I'll get all of the bad ones, so I really do feel for you. Once you get going though it's so easy. I've had zero side effects, the injection doesn't hurt or sting in my experience, and it's really low maintenance. A trick I use to remember which leg I've used- I split the months into odd (Jan, Mar, May...) and even (Feb, Apr, Jun...) then I think "left" has 4 letters (even) and "right" has 5 letters (odd) so I do right leg on the odd months and left on the even. It sounds a bit OTT but you'll be surprised how regularly you forget which you last did!
