GRIEF AND MS

Today at 7:17 pm PDT will mark one week my wonderful, caring, fun, understanding mother passed away. She was a rock to all 7 of her children. I am #6. My recent relapse, which started 2.5 weeks ago started out as my worst. Then a week ago, my mother took a turn for the worst. And it happened about 45 minutes after my sister and I stepped out for food. Within minutes my body gave up on me. I was in a full blown horrible relapse from head to toe. The pain is excruciating where all the chronic pain stems from. Numbness, tingling, spasms. Bouncy legs, being uncoordinated with movements, speech, thoughts. I hurt so much with added chest pain that I ended up staying in the hospital Tuesday til Friday night. I have some minor heart damage from the emotional distress shown by blood work. Hopefully nothing permanent as my stress test came back fine. Grief is a very powerful emotion that can affect MS negatively. I am still distraught but can focus more on thoughts and typing. I joined this forum to seek help on getting through this as I know I have a long road ahead.

Sorry for your loss. My mother passed away shortly after my diagnosis so I can relate.

@ClaireVS

I was diagnosed within a few weeks of my mother's passing - I had a very bad relapse too. It did make it easier for the Dr to diagnose. It did settle back down but I agree grief does affect MS. So sorry for your loss.
