Not knowing where else to start...

...I'll go with suddenly feeling as if I'd been shot in my right knee. I was 19, traveling with my husband in the lower SW United States, maybe New Mexico. The pain came out of nowhere. A simple step, and the expression on my face told my husband that something was terribly wrong. He ran to me and helped me to the truck, each step just as excruciating as the last. I sat in the passenger seat, examining my knee and found no tender spots, no evidence of injury whatsoever. No soreness upon moving it (flexing or extending), without the weight bearing. The next thing that happened was that a terrible storm moved over very quickly, and it passed by just the same, and then all the pain was gone. It was nerve pain, a symptom which has only persisted over the years. It is truly debilitating when it happens, and although I've been forced to simply stop walking in a crowd of people, I suppose it's been some parts pride, and some parts simple denial that have made me hide my need for help in those moments, and so I don't get help when I need it. I vow to change that. Was this my first true symptom of MS? Maybe. I'm 51 years old now, and I was just diagnosed in March of this year. It was a very nice catch made by my PCP, NP who had only known me about a year at the time. Thanks, Meredith! ❤️
