Cymbalta
Hi friends,
My mom is 75 and has MS. I live with her. Over the last few years, she’s lost a lot of independence - she no longer drives, she uses a walker around the house, and a wheelchair outside (when I can convince her to leave the house).
She’s been getting this HORRIFIC nerve pain in one of her arms. She tried gabapentin, which made her feel terrible. Recently, she tried lyrica which did help with the nerve pain, but she was on it for 2 days and fell THREE times. So obvisouly, she had to stop that.
Her doctor put her on 30mg of Cymbalta, she started it 2 days ago and has been nauseous. I know that it will take some time to work since it’s an SNRI, but in the meantime she is miserable, in so much pain. I went to the pharmacy today and spent a lot of money on every spray, lotion, and patch I could find that might give her some relief until the Cymbalta kicks in.
I’m hope the Cymbalta helps with her nerve pain AND maybe her mental health. I hate seeing her live like this, it’s devastating to me.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Has ANYONE had any success with Cymbalta and nerve pain?
Any other suggestions for nerve pain that won’t mess with her legs/balance?
Thank you in advance <3
Signed,
A heartbroken daughter who wants her mom to live a decent life. She deserves it.

Good morning! It's great to hear that you are able to help your Mom and want to see her at her best. I have used CBD and similar balms successfully for nerve pain in my elbow and lower back. I am sorry I do not have any experience with Cymbalta. Let us know how you make out!
I have bad nerve pain in my feet. Feels like they are on fire. I’ve taken the same medication as your mom and had to stop taking them for those reasons also. I haven’t found anything that helps. I’m still on the hunt myself. As of now I use a cold wet wash rag to cool the fire feeling and pain on the bottom of my feet. If I find anything I’ll post about it. I did make a spray out of avocado pit and rubbing alcohol and it works but don’t last very long. So you have to use it a lot. But it does work
