Nervous ๐
Hello I got diagnosed in November of 2024 and I've just had a letter for my 1st ocrevus appointment on the 7th March. I am so nervous as I hate needles and I'm scared of the side effects it can cause. I only got offered 2 treatments, one being ponvory and im absolutely useless at remembering to take tablets so my next choice was this. Could someone please give me some reassurance and explain to me what I may expect on the day please? I'm a massive over thinker ๐ thank you ๐งก
Well first of all you will need to have your blood taken 10 days before you have treatment to see if you have any infection etc. On the day you will be given pre meds ie paracetamol & antihistamines then they will canular you with a needle unfortunately, then you will be hooked up to a machine & start your infusion x
hi, im Tori. ive been taking Ocrevus for 3 years total. hears my experiencing is like.I check in at the desk, then i get called back. then they get me set up in a bed or comfy chair, after that they set me up with the IV. most people get it in the crook of the elbow, I usally have them do my hand since my vains are difficult. then they give me tylonal and benadryl, while they wait for the IV bag to come up from in patience pharmacy. 20-30 minutes after i arrive they start the IV drip. it takes 4 1/2 to 5 hours for the whole procedure. the nurses check vitals about every half hour. I recomened bringing something todo, like a book or video-game, altho the benadryl might make you sleepy. i usually nap alot. some places might offer you lunch, mine dosnt anymore since the pandemic. so i would also pack a snack.
