Frustration - Dark(ish) Humour
Need to get this off my chest, I went in today to have my 1st maintenance dose for Briumvi.
Initially had some post infusion reaction post 1st loading dose but switched to IV steroids for the 2nd loading dose and no problem.
Cut to today where they delayed my infusion to clarify if I could have IV steroid pre infusion - all grand and off we go.
Not even 10 mins into my infusion (100ml/hr) - I gaslight myself ( for about a minute or two) that my chest isn’t tight, throat feels like it’s closing, throat/ears not itchy and I don’t have a rash on my face - spoiler alert.. I had all of these things 😬. I became very popular in the infusion ward 😂
Alert the nurse and they stop the infusion for 30 mins with no need for anything extra and then start me back up again at 50ml/hr. I was so excited for my day off and a shorter infusion than ocrevus that I was gunna go for a solo lunch and a bit of a shop to cheer myself up.
Turns out I was to sit in hospital all day to be told going forward the fastest rate they will safely put me is 80ml/hr with it being staggered up to that point.
I am not looking for any sympathy cause I feel sorry enough for myself, I brought cake that I defo don’t need 😂but I also brought antihistamines- which I defo do need so I guess I got some shopping done 🙃
I was totally unprepared for the hospital today because my loading doses where uneventful but thankfully the nhs saved me with dreadful lunch and dinner - vegan options are shocking. Now because of the steroids I just want to eat everything in sight!
Thank you for coming to my ted talk ♥️

Interesting wxperience. Note to self ALWAYS bring snacks/food. I get the munchies. I’m on Ocrevus. Been 6yr now. Have a little routine actually. Get “drunk” or loopy on premed/steroids. Fall asleep for 1.5 hr. Wake up, use the loo, then munchies for next hour then Im out. (See ya in 6 months)…,,
Ugh thats stinks. Im sorry to hear that. Did you find out why you reacted that way or was it the speed of dose?
