Sound magnified in right side of head

Hey everyone, just wondering has anyone experienced tinnitus like symptoms? In right side of my head everything sounds magnified, like really loud, is this a relapse does anyone know? Thanks in advance, rrms diagnosis 2020

Hey @FionaD, I don’t know if it is a relapse as I’m pretty new to this myself but from what I know it is usually classified as a relapse if the symptom lasts for more than 24 hours. Also just noting that for me one of my symptoms that came on gradually was sensory overload and over stimulation. In terms of sound and hearing, normal sounds usually feel so loud and irritating I can’t take it. When I’m talking to someone I usually tell them to whisper or turn down the volume really low if it’s on phone or if I’m watching something or just turn it off completely - even though it was okay just a couple of hours back. It’s never been the tinnitus-like ringing though. My recovery plan is usually to lock myself in a dark quiet open room and put on my noise cancelling headphones and cover myself with a heavy throw blanket for a couple of hours. Just noting that for me it’s not just sound though its usually all my senses - vision, taste, smell, sound, touch - thus the extreme recovery plan. Hopefully this helps.

I agree with Alexander, I can’t say if it’s a relapse because I am also new to this. I do experience tinnitus in my right ear quite a bit. It’s definitely not debilitating and mostly comes and goes. I also struggle with overstimulation with sounds and use loop earplugs to help in louder environments. I would probably reach out to your neurologist just to be sure it’s not a relapse or something more serious going on. I’m sorry you’re going through this! Good luck!!
