@Noise_chick

Hi! I think my first one was 6 hrs. They have to give you pre-meds ( usually Benadryl and Tylenol) ( I also take Xanax so I don't hyperventilate) Then you sit for 30 minutes before they start the IV meds. They will go really slow to make sure you don't have a reaction ( throat closing or itchiness allergy reaction is most common) and they may have to stop to reassess ( give you more Benadryl). It you tolerate it well they MAY speed it up to normal infusion rate halfway through. It can take 3-4 hrs usually. Then they make you sit afterwards for a half hr-he to make sure you don't have a reaction. It's boring. Bring some entertainment ( or nap, stupid Benadryl 😴) and you will likely have to pee halfway thru since they're dumping fluid in you) I like to have a mineral water with me ( they often have drinks & hospital approved snacks but they may not.) pack a snack. I've been on it for 3 yrs so I usually get it done in 3 hrs now with the accelerated drip ( at least I think it's accelerated). Expect a battery of blood tests before, they may do them yearly. Good luck!
