Walking woes
Hi there,
My ability to walk seems to get worse in heat and at times of high stress. I have gotten so used to this that I usually limit walking time to about half an hour and stroll rather than power walk or anything like that.
I recently went out walking with a friend who doesn't know about my MS. We got a little lost and while he was walking for almost 2 hours, I was dragging my leg behind me (and behind him) for that entire time.
By the time we finally made it back to the car, I was feeling really broken but trying to stay chipper.
He recently commented that I'm not old, and he doesn't understand why I don't join a walking group or something to build my 'stamina'. Again, he doesn't know I have MS, but I feel very offended!
Talk me down please.
If you don’t tell him you have MS it’s unrealistic to be mad at his comments. He would be empathetic about your stamina issues. Be fair and honest..
