Kesimpta expectations vs reality?

Hi everyone, I’m Robin. I was diagnosed with MS in November 2024 and started Kesimpta in November 2025. My neurologist (who specializes in MS) has told me that on Kesimpta I basically won’t know I have MS—that I shouldn’t get new lesions, my body will start healing, and possibly in 15–20 years I could even come off the medication. But my day-to-day experience feels really different. I still have hypersensitivity on my right side, ongoing right leg pain from my 2024 relapse, and recently I’ve been having severe muscle cramps that sometimes make it hard to walk. I’m also a self-employed hairdresser, so I’ve had to keep working through everything, even right after being hospitalized. I’d really appreciate hearing from others on Kesimpta—has it made your symptoms go away over time, or is it more about preventing things from getting worse? Is what my doctor described realistic in your experience? For context, I had 5 lesions at diagnosis.

I am dubious of the claims your doctor is making. I am on Ocrevus which is one of the high efficacy treatments. Both are good at slowing progression. I have had no new lesions in years. The damage already done will heal some to a point so your symptoms may improve some. But the damage is their so symptoms going away all together and you won’t even know you have MS I don’t believe. Not even the drug makers are claiming that.

Hi @DudeCrewMama I'm sorry, I don't have any experience with kesimpta so far but I've never heard a Doctor make those kind of claims about any MS meds. I know there's always some potential for a degree of healing but not to the extent it sounds like your doctor was suggesting. At least not to my knowledge, I'd be happy if anyone comes along here with any insight that proves me wrong! The most important thing though is preventing any new damage. On a more positive note, the reason I stopped by here to comment was to suggest magnesium cream for your severe cramping. If you can find one that suits you it's really good stuff. I use it in a preventative sense but also as a pretty effective reliever of a sudden onset of cramp. Absolute game changer! I also accidentally found out that rubbing it into the soles of your feet before bed can improve sleep. I hope that's some help to you 😊
