I'm so confused!

I have a brain MRI with multiple bilateral lesions, also lesions on my neck MRI, lots of symptoms, the neuro who did my lumbar puncture said my MRI is comparable to someone who had MS for 20yrs. Had my first neurology appointment and was told that if I'd seen him before September then he'd diagnose MS but diagnostic criteria changed in September so he's not going to diagnose me. My lumbar puncture shows no bands, which is great, and I need to have an opticians nerve check and another MRI but he's saying it's 50/50. I'm now in limbo. No pain management, no support, no input. I don't drink or smoke, never done drugs. I asked what other possibilities there are and he said he didn't know! I'm desperate for some support. Sorry for the rant xxx

Hello - gosh I wish you well with it.

@Beccaboo

It sounds like you need a second opinion. My doctor rarely uses a spinal tap to diagnose. It seems that your MRI should be enough along with symptoms. Your doctor seems a bit unqualified for treating MS. My neurologist has a MS clinic. He ONLY treats and diagnoses MS (Dr. Aaron Boster). He’s on YouTube.
