DVLA Nightmare
So my photo licence is due to expire on the 11th as I need to update my photo. I did this application well in advance. In May I also advised of the MS diagnosis and was told they would send the forms to GP for medical etc. GP have called to say they will charge me for this.
Life got busy I didn’t have time to chase anything up etc. so I call the DVLA explained GP are charging me for the medical I shouldn’t have to pay. DVLA say it’s chargeable back to them.
Call the GP told them this. They then say they have to speak to someone and will contact me again to book the medical.
Now my application for the renewal of the photo licence is on hold, in the meantime I’ve moved house so can’t be sure if the DVLA have updated the licence or not for this.
And I don’t know what happens after the photo licence expires in a weeks time.
All I need to know is if I can still drive. It can’t be that difficult surely. Mobility wise I’m fine nothing has changed that changes my ability to drive. The consultant has advised me I am safe to continue driving etc

If the consultant has said you are fine to drive then it's OK until the DVLA process the medical license. If you are worried, maybe get the consultant to put it in an email and keep a copy in the car just in case. I'm not sure about the fact that your original license is expiring, how that will affect things, you'd have to check that part with the DVLA.
you cant drive on a expired driving licence. police take it as you dont have a license. just be care full maybe talk to the dvla they might be able to put a not on your license to enable you to carry on driving untill sorted
