Right to Choose mix up?(england)
In February 2025 after a suspected TIA, Stroke clinic referred me to neurology for suspected MS as an MRI indicated I didn’t have a TIA or stroke but clearly had white spots/lesions. Since then it’s taken until last week for me to be seen once by a neurologist and spoken to on the phone twice by him and given my diagnosis of RRMS (on the phone, like I was booking a manicure.)
In that time, I’ve had to advocate for my second MRI and lumbar puncture and my symptoms to be taken seriously.
Three weeks ago, my GP agreed that this was outside of the NICE guidelines and I was Eligible for the right choose pathway. The problem is that since that referral has been made I’ve now got an appointment with the original team MS specialist nurse and I’ve actually had more communication from the secretaries (but still not my confirmed diagnosis letter which is affecting reasonable adjustments in work, thanks.)
So my question now is do I cancel the current open referral to my chosen provider? Will this jeopardise any treatment plan that I access while the clinic I have opted for triages my referral. If anyone has any experience with something like this I’d really like to hear from you as I feel so alone and confused. I’ve tried to get PALS support but my local trust paperwork is completely inaccessible to me with fatigue and brain fog, and they won’t take a phone call until I’ve filled in the form.
