Starting work again
I’m starting work again on Monday after having off. I work in customer service. I’ve asked for a phased return to work and they are going to put me on all lines. That I can put myself on hold whilst asking for help or call the person back. That I have my notes. Not really phased. I said I can try.
The other thing ids they are wanting to know WHEN I’ll be back in the office. Considering it’s two flights of stairs and no lift it’s more than a little difficult when I’m just getting some strength back in my legs. Said a don’t know. All they are doing is pressure. I’m sure it’s to make me quit as they can’t fire me as I can do the job just not the location.
Sore point as I know some one went to another country and works from home.
Feeling like crap as it’s making me feel useless, and I can’t sleep due to worry.
I hope you all can sleep xx

So sorry to hear that you are stressing about returning to work. I was off work for 7 months but they have been really supportive so I've been very fortunate in that respect and I'm grateful for that. Could you join a Union as they could offer you support or provide you with advice? I really hope you find a resolution to this and are able to return to work and are supported to do so. Does your Return to Work Drs note specify a phased return? If so they shouldn't be putting you on a full day. I feel for you and can understand why you are so stressed. I hope your MS Nurse is contactable and has offered you some sound advice. Sending some positive vibes your way x
By law you are protected under the equalities act as you are now legally classed as disabled. My MS nurse gave me a booklet that helps drive the conversation with your employer about what is needed to ensure you return to work safely. The first thing that you need to do is speak to occupational health as they need to review what adjustments need to be made for you. This will then be sent to your line manager so that they can put recommendations in place. You can also ask to be seen by the occupational therapist who works within your MS team as they can support you with identifying your support needs. They can write to your employer and in some cases can attend meetings to support you with advocating for reasonable adjustments. The last thing you want is to go back with nothing in place and you go off sick again. It's on their best interest to support you effectively as they could be taken to court for discriminative practice as your disability status is protected by law. I hope this helps.
