Exempt from Council Tax due to MS

💡 Has anyone managed to be exempt from paying council tax due to MS? The council call it SMI exemption. Meaning if someone has what is classified as a SMI (severe mental illness) condition they don't pay council tax but you have to download the form off the council website and get your DRs stamp/certification. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is primarily classified as a chronic neurological disease of the central nervous system, not a mental illness. However, because MS causes damage to brain tissue that directly affects mood, cognition, and behavior, it is frequently associated with severe psychiatric complications.
