Hi, there. I have a new numb patch – on my big toe, because my life is a ridiculous sitcom. At the moment, we’re just keeping an eye on it. As for itching, my scalp drives me nuts, particularly at night, and regardless of when I last washed my hair. I still have no idea if this is MS-related, an infection, or even an allergy. I suspect the course of action will either be to increase my dosage of gabapentin or move me onto Pregabalin, as my tingles and tremors are also getting a bit worse. You should probably consider talking to your Dr about whether or not medication might be appropriate.

Funny, my scalp needs a good itch before I go to sleep. On the top, near the front, I just give it a good scratch and it is good. Didn’t really relate it to my MS ;0 I use Gralise instead of Gabapentin as it is the extended release version and you just take it once a day. It seemed like Gabapentin kind of spiked at various times and pushed my blood pressure around.

I’m pretty sure Gralise is just a brand of gabapentin.

@highheeledfagin
You are correct it is also known more frequently as Gabapentin.

Hi @highheeledfagin and @highlander I know it’s my nerve on my numb patch just misfiring. I take injections as no good at tablets and don’t think it warrants it I’ll jusy try some cream on it x

Hi, @karlsohare I get itching and numbness together on my face when my MS symptoms are bad (through tiredness or heat). Sorry I don’t have any magic answer. I find that Ibuprofen does help stop nerve impulses from firing randomly and the brain from paying attention to them. I’ve had to tell the doctor I’m taking it daily so she is aware and prescribes meds to protect my stomach lining.

@karlsohare, yes yes and yes: I see you have found a solution which I’ll try. I’m in a wheelchair or in bed on my back. Either way I’m on my bottom. It itches dreadfully and I’ve scratched it until it bleeds. I’ve seen the GP, District Nurse and MS nurse. I’ve tried E45 itch cream, medí honey, short nails and white cotton gloves and still my fingers find a way to SCRATCH. I’m in the throes of moving which doesn’t help. My live in carer has threatened to leave as she says it’s like watching someone self harm. HELP xx

Remember looking back before my diagnosis my foot used to get really itchy I even bought foot creams etc, but later after my diagnosis was discovered it’s another enjoy of ms!! Now it’s my shin that sometime plays up 😬 ’rub instead of scratching’

@karlsohare I had 2 days of uncontrollable intense itching during what I think was a protracted first episode that came on gradually, got so bad then tailed off. This lasted for about 2 days and I must have been numb as I didn’t even realise that I had cut my nose whilst itching. The itching was mainly my head and even inside my ears felt itchy. I have had other itchiness from time to time but nothing like the 2 days of craziness where I actually thought wth is going on.
