Shooting pain

Hi all
Just when I think this disease can’t give me any more it does, recently I am experiencing dreadful shock like pain going from my middle toes shooting straight up to my groin area.
They are intermittent come in sets of 8 to 10 and take your breath away.
Has any body any thoughts on this.
Regards
Mary Dev

@mary_devereux , MS is definitely the gift that keeps on giving!

Could this be muscle spasms? There’s some details here, with some suggestions :-

Hi Stumbler
Defintely not spasm or spascity it is a ferocious pain starting at toe area and exciting in groin area fast and furious and repeats several times.

@mary_devereux , are you on any pain meds for your MS? This does all seem to point to neuropathic in nature.

Just symptom meds such as neurtoin, pelexia and baclocen
I have reduced from 1200*3 To 800*3 on the neurtoin trying to reduce the does hate taking all the meds but was at the stage of didn’t know what was working for my pain reluctant to go back up.

@mary_devereux , I can understand you wanting to cut down on the meds that you take. But, decreasing the Neurontin (Gabapentin) may be behind this latest pain now causing a problem.

Sounds like nerve pain to me. I describe it as lightning strikes in my legs. I was already on a mix of gabapentin, clonazepam, baclofen for the spasms and I understand gabapentin can help with nerve pain (traditional piankillers don’t work). Gabapentin helped with the spasms, not the nerve pain.
I was prescribed Duloxetine. Works for me, though a tricky 72 hours or so of even more fatigue before that bit wore off. Cannabis oil also helps me…
