Mine is definitely Old School and I so wish I had a New School Neurologist. Mine hasn’t bothered to see me in 15 years approx. Just put a complaint in to the hospital. Put one in 5 years ago and they got the Neuro Rehab team to see me twice yearly. They must be getting bored with me now as next appointment in 9 months. No MRIs, no DMTs, no regular contact or information. I’m starting to think I don’t exist!

I love Dr Boster’s videos! I wish he were my Neurologist, unfortunately I dont live in Ohio!

I think my current Neurologist is kind of half way, I dont think he is always comfortable treating MS, as that’s not his specialty. I go back to him next week for my followup, as I’ve already scheduled it months ago, but in November I have an appointment with an MS Neurologist at a different practice. They have more to treat MS, so I will probably switch.

Y’all realise you can specify the neurologist that you see? It is only governed by your possible willingness to travel a bit. Not all the modern forward thinking neuros live in London.

Just ask your GP to refer you to X. The may ask why. Whether you tell them or not is up to you. You don’t have to justify it.

Your MS. You can choose who to see.

How to find the good neuros? Do a bit of digging. See who is talking about progressive treatments. Like Aaron Boster. Havin Giovanni fronts the Bart’s MS blog. Read it. See who is mentioned. When there are clinical papers referenced, as there often are, see the names of the authors and where the work is being done. Look on clinicaltrials.gov to see the studies running in the UK. Not to be part of them necessarily but see who the lead investigator(s) are at the sites nearest you.

You owe an old-skool neurologist nothing.

😳 definitely old School by this videos definition.
I wish I’d shown him this link at my recent visit and asked him to explain the reasoning behind his views further.
He is not an old neuro and does a lot of research but his views certainly don’t tie in with what I’ve been reading here. 🙄
