Carpal Tunnel

Carpal tunnel has got worse since January 19, I’m waking up in pain with my left hand, pins and needles. It’s constant through the day now and all I can take is co-codamol and drop my arm. It’s quicker to go to the GP I think for help but not sure what they can do. I take it that it’s pain relief only now?

Any chance it really is carpal tunnel? I had burning feeling in my left hand but since I am right handed and have a good friend that is a PT I her look at during handbell practice (I was in that with her weekly. She said that the impact wasn’t in the correct fingers and since I am right handed it was all wrong. She advised me to go to a Dr…who sent me to a massage person (and advised yoga to open up the body) and the massage gal said that my first rib wasn’t staying in position. Get thee to a chiropractor she said…so I did and immediate relief but for long term relief I had to strengthen my shoulders back up and work my posture so I didn’t kind of slump.

To fix those issues I started bellydance and that helped me at the time. Not doing much of that anymore but I should dabble in that a bit again for fun.

Impact for carpal tunnel should be in the thumb, index and middle finger of your dominant hand. My tinglies were more in the pinkie finger and one next it. Once my rib stayed in position the nerve no longer was being pinched and no more tinglies.

So- basically my message is to not blame everything on MS. (A quote from my first neuro) We can have all the issues of other mortals…in addition to MS! 😉 maybe it is MS but when the issue is with peripheral nerves like this really make sure you check it out to confirm that there is no other issue causing it that may have another fix than more drugs or just putting up with it 😉
