Symptoms of optic neuritis...

Apart from the obvious things that it causes, double vision/blurred etc, did any of you have any other symptoms before getting it full blown?

Thanks @stumbler see how it goes up to 2 weeks then by the sounds of it, before it may reach a peak.

Some problems should be addressed straight away, before they're allowed to potentially cause too much harm.

my first sign was it really hurt when i moved my eye from side to side which my neuro said is a BIGGGG warning sign. Then it went a lil blurry to more blurry to half blind. All happened within the space of 10 days!!!

With me it was different twice, first time it went from grey to black in 5 days, second time eye just ached really badly.

At the moment when im at work looking at the computer screen im seeing dark sort of shadows, moving in my vision & my left eye is aching alot all the time and it hurts to move it. Their both really sensitive to light. I don't want to go off sick again at the moment unless i have to as im only on my 3rd week back :-(

@boodle06

I know it's different for everyone but did you get the optic neuritus and that alone, or the ON as well as something else like weakness etc?

@chels Haven't seen u pop up for a while x I agree with u totally, I'd rather put up with this in sum respects rather than a full blown attack of on - but then we don't get to pick & choose unfortunately. Hope your as well as well can b x

@Kybob

I was told I had optic neuritis yesterday. Started about 2 weeks ago with a migraine type pain constantly in my eye then went on to have blurry vision which since 2 days ago has taken over my entire eye.

i've had a recent episode, this time i had a lace curtain effect, like if you press hard on your eye and see white cross hatching, i had pain as well but now it's an ache. my vision is like i have been in the sun and returned indoors but my eye never readjusts. much worse in brighter conditions

@boodle06 No they said that the steroids have some nasty side effects so they dont want to give them me unless i really need them. starting to get a little worse now so may have to get some.

@Stumbler

@Kabob, I got told that the body creates this particular steroid itself, so a temporary boost just helps the body kick start it's own recovery. These aren't the same steroids that get bad press at sports events, e.g. anabolic steroids.
