Not understanding!
In my role as a "befriender" and "Buddy", I have assured fellow MS'ers that when people make un-informed comments relating to MS, they are not being offensive.
Yesterday at my local MS centre and while volunteering to operate the Oxygen chamber I found some comments about MS very offensive. I was asked firstly if the equipment is cleaned after use, I replied yes, cleaned and dissenfected.
I was then asked, as the centre was an MS centre with lots of people attending with MS, how did we protect people without MS from catching the virus!
I explained that you can not catch MS, it is not a virus but neuroogical, you can not catch it!
I was then asked, "what causes MS". I explained that no one is sure, if the cause could be found, the cure would be easier to find. I was then told, "they probably do have a cure, it is just too expensive to use".
After many tears of assuring people that when people do not understand, they are not being offensive, it is just ignorance to our condition, why the hell was I so offended? Obviously, writing this can not explain the persons attitude, which was not good and pretty rude.
People can be so annoying.

Thats the trouble. People are just not educated about MS at all. I get very frustrated when i get comments like, can't the doctors do something, explaining to people that leg pain isn't to do with how cold it gets and it's not like arthritic pain and when i'm tired all i get is, aren't we all. I find myself repeating the same things to people. I just wish more people would educate themselves.
That sounds awfully annoying. You’re a lot more patient that I am. I think it’s time for a sign or one page hand out explaining what MS is so you don’t have to explain it 😩
