Symptom: breathing difficulty
Hello,
For some time now, I've been experiencing some difficulty breathing. In fact, when I'm about to fall asleep, it feels like I stop breathing. I just had a sleep apnea test, but it's not.
Does anyone else experience a similar symptom?
Thank you.
Hi! I had that sensation when I was experiencing MS hug. Lasted about 2 months but it felt like a lifetime. The muscles around your rib cage, encompassing your chest and back, are probably spastic which feels like a tightness and difficulty to breathe. Usually due to a cervical or thoracic lesion or collection of lesions. In my opinion it was the most annoying and anxiety inducing symptom I’ve had, and it usually poresents with bowel issues
Hi! I've had this for 6 years, been to different appointments, I had MRI, x-rays and physiotherapy, but nothing showed up to explain the breathing changes (I stop breathing randomly, like my body forgets to breathe, I can't take deep breaths, or yawn) so I was told I've got functional breathing disorder. Even though it's a typical symptom, it's called MS hug, there wasn't anything else to do about it. What is important to know is how your oxygen levels are. If you can go to a doctor / GP and have them check it, it can be reassuring that, despite you feeling like you're not breathing properly, your body gets the right amount of oxygen. At least it helped me and the anxious thoughts when I first experienced this.
