Hey everyone! I’ve been dealing with gingival hyperplasia (gum overgrowth) as a side effect of Tecfidera. I started the medication in November 2024, and it began within the first month of taking it. The condition persisted until I stopped it in July 2025, about two weeks ago. From the very beginning, my dentist was certain that the gum overgrowth was due to the medication. My neurologist, however, mentioned that there’s no mention of gingival hyperplasia in the literature related to Tecfidera, and they haven’t encountered it in other patients either. Since stopping the medication, my condition has improved significantly, though I’ll still need a gingivectomy. I’m waiting until it’s been a month since I stopped Tecfidera before proceeding with the procedure. I wanted to ask if anyone here has experienced this side effect. I plan to ask my neurologist to contact the relevant people to have it officially listed as a side effect of Tecfidera. Wishing you all the best!
