1st NHS appointment - what to expect?
Hi its my first NHS appointment at the MS clinic at the local hospital tomorrow. I had a private diagnosis and I've now been transferred yo the NHS. I have no idea what will happen or what to expect? Can anyone advise?

Hello, no idea exactly what your first appointment will consist of with you getting diagnosed privately but my first neurologist appointment was him assessing me with mobility tests etc and going through my issues. (July) He then arranged for various tests, like a nerve and muscle test and the mri (my main issue was a leg issue) MRI came through in Dec. After my mri and getting the results he called me and told me the news just before Xmas, and got me referred to the neuro inflammation clinic at queens in nottm ( I see you’re Derby) On that appointment (end of Jan) my new neurologist went through all my scans. Spoke about meds (I’d already researched so had already narrowed it down) we spoke for about 2 hours and I can’t speak any higher of him. We went through all symptoms and any questions I had. He was brilliant. From that appointment he arranged my ms nurse referral. He had to talk to the board to put my case Forward for a dmt and show the evidence that he’d found periods of relapses over the year to prove it was RRMS. My ms nurse called me about a week later and booked me in to see her. She arranged my X-ray and bloods to check I could go on kesimpta and then I saw her end of feb. I’m now waiting on a phone call to say when the meds will be delivered. I’ve gone through all my appointments as not sure where you’ll be with the nhs. I know if private results have been had for some illnesses etc they still do their own tests but hopefully your appointment with be fast tracked and you can start the journey to dmts
