A Great Week
Things have been rough lately. My symptoms started progressing over the last two years - most notably since November. I had to stop working in February and quit driving in March (I didn't have confidence in my braking ability). We even decided we had to put our family home up for sale because all the stairs had become too difficult.
My DMT had worked really well for around 15 years but neurologist and I agreed we try a different DMT to see if it might help. A bit of a "Hail Mary."
Yesterday I had my first dose of Ocrevus. I felt a little tired for a few hours after the infusion but have been back to normal (at least my normal) since then. So far none of the more severe reactions I was warned I might experience. Fingers crossed that I tolerate the second dose =this well. Heck, with a little luck my symptom might even improve.
Earlier in the week I took my first lessons for driving with hand controls. I hadn't felt so nervous behind the wheel since I was 15 years old. I started off off to a shaky start but I am happy to report that after an hour I had gotten the hang of it. Still more proactive needs before I challenge rush hour traffic but the prospect of regaining even a tiny bit of freedom is so exciting (and my wife is REALLY looking forward to no longer serving as my personal chauffeur).
I know there will be more than enough challenges ahead but I believe you have to try and celebrate the little winds whenever possible. Cheers to a great week!
