UK Civil Service - Medical Retirement
Hi all. I'm approaching 60, have RRMS and I've been struggling with worsening fatigue for nine years. I think I'm coming towards the end of my useful life as a technical computer bloke. I'm very lucky to work for the UK government who treat me well, but I need to start looking at the options for Medical Retirement. Does anyone have experience of this? Any pointers will be gratefully received. Cheers, Rhossili x
My last job role was with local government & I took medical retirement. Best thing I ever did! Your pension is paid as if you had worked up to national retirement age (67 at the moment) so my advice would be to contact your pension team & ask them for an estimate. Your employer can't offer you medical retirement, you have to ask for it yourself. I would have the conversation with your HR team - I'm sure they will help. If you are a member of a union they can help with the negotiation & accompany you to any meetings. Good luck🍀
I'm really sorry I can't answer your question but greetings from a fellow Civil Servant 👋😀
