Just Diagnosed
Hello fellow MSers! Was just recently diagnosed with MS. Im generally optimistic, but still grappling with this. I've done several MRI's and recently a lumbar spinal tap which confirmed everything. The next step is some more blood test and a tratment plan from my Neurologist. I'm a single dad of a 9 year old and was less than two years from retirement. I work in law enforcement and the thought of battling this while showing up for my daughter, and working 12 hour shifts at a job that is stressful and at times dangerous can be a bit overwhelming. I've been relying on my faith now more than ever.

Avoiding stress is important and getting overheated. Walking is good, riding a bicycle is not good. Your head feels warm cool it down with cool water. Try to find a way to not let your job stress you orb transfer to a less stressful position. I had ms since 29, I am turning 62. Dom Thorpe on you tube, his exercises are specific for people with ms.
Being diagnosed is a process. Coming to terms with how your specific disease also is. MS affects everyone so differently. I can relate to your sentiment. When I was first DX I was so angry. 2 small children and a career. I have “no time for this” is how I felt. I’ve been DX since 2020. Still learning how MS plays into all seasons of life. You will learn what triggers your diseases the most. Pay attention to your triggers and body. Listen to it. Try to learn what you need and adjust your values and goals around this. I’m still figuring it out too but have learned so much. Best of luck to you!
