MRI post relapse

I have a scheduled MRI next weekend which is 6 weeks after symptom onset. I attended the eye hospital with suspected retrobulbar neuritis which is optic neuritis behind the optic nerve. However when I returned for a 2 week check up, the Dr who examined me said my optic nerve appears to be firing- when he shone a light in my eye he could tell it was reactive. He suggested my symptoms were caused 'further back' meaning the brain. I am a little confused because all my symptoms were classical optic neuritis - pain on movement, blurred vision , changed colour and depth perception. I have so many questions! Have people had anything like this? Could I have inflammation/lesions which resulted in these symptoms but are not a type of neuritis?? I'm also worried that when I have the MRI, nothing will show up! What's the window of opportunity for relapse activity or damage to show on a MRI? I still can't see properly in my left eye... Thanks for listening to me! 🤯

It should still show up on the MRI but with it being 6wks old it may or may not show up as an active lesion under contrast.

My neurologist doesn't like using contrast because of possible long term side effects. I suspected the chances of it showing up was reduced as time passes. *Sigh* Sadly, I'm eager for it to show up as t's the only way I can get the DMT escalated.
