Shift work (incl nights 😴)
Hi
It's been a couple of years since I posted in here.
For the most part, my MS has been well behaved. A couple of cheeky flare ups due to stress, but Ocrevus seems to be holding the disease at bay for now.
For the last 3 yrs I have had an agreed working arrangement with my employer that I think has helped to keep things in line. However, a promotion at work and a change in shift patterns has thrown me OFF! I've been told I have to do night shifts (12hrs x 2 in a row) for the first time in 3 yrs. A point I have argued as I cannot recover quick enough or well enough to even carry out normal day to day activities. I work as a radiographer in the NHS. The role is incredibly demanding at times and can be taxing on my brain. I also have to drive 21miles home whilst praying I do not fall asleep at the wheel.
I just wondered if anyone had any advice or tips of how to navigate shift work? I'm still waiting to see occ health as my superintendent has showed little to no empathy.
Thank you :)
Holly

Occupation will support you its under a reasonable adjustment under the disability act. If you can, call or email them about the pressure its so stressful. Also check out the work section on the MS Trust website. There is lots of info and support. PS: there are other MS sites. This is just my immediate go to first that I use. There are leaflets you can print or download for managers and even friends and family to educate themselves on supporting those surviving MS. I laughed when my OH did that and wrote it in the recommendations.
