Blood Donations

Having used to donate blood, I called up the blood bank to ask if I’m able to donate blood now that I have MS. I was told ‘No’ as there isn’t enough evidence to show if MS is transmittable & if it’s transmittable by blood. This is a bit of a disappointment & I’m surprised there isn’t enough evidence & research done regarding this topic! Has anyone with MS been able to successfully donate blood?

Like yourself, I'd like to continue blood donation - have done so for 35 years. Now looks, however, that I've been removed from the database - I no longer receive letters. Again, like yourself, I hope this changes.

I was disappointed too...though not sure its about MS being transmissible...more about the likelihood of you being on some other medicine ie DMT pain relief etc
