@cosine , there's a range of different thermometers available on the market, dependant on how much you want to spend. The following is an American website, but it may help :- https://www.verywellhealth.com/best-thermometers-4169587 Amazon seems to be selling hundreds of them!
@cosine we bought a fancy digital one you just press against your forehead or pop in your ear. We bought it for the kids as they are forever running a temperature and it is hard enough to get them to put anything in their mouths for a period of time (except the TV remotes, cat toys, sticks, rocks, sand, insects, baby chickens). We have actually bought 2 as the youngest decided to flush the first one in the toilet. They retail for about $120 here in Australia. That said, I am on Gilenya which is an immune modulator/suppressor so I am unlikely to get a temperature (temperature is an immune response to the infection/virus). If I do my wife (nurse) takes it very seriously. Not as seriously as when the kids get a temp but she acknowledges that I might be sick...
