playing instruments

I play the piano but I’m now finding it really difficult to get my fingers to move and press down the keys 🙁 I used to play the clarinet too, but I had to stop for of dropping it.

Can anyone else relate to this? I want my music back!!

Hey Tara,
I had the same problem when I first had symptoms – I play the flute and had to give up for about 3 or 4 months when I could barely move my right hand. At the time I didn’t know if I was ever going to be able to play again but thankfully the strength in my hand returned. I can sympathise with how frustrating it is when you can’t play. How long have you been having trouble playing?

I’ve been noticing difficulties with playing note on the piano for about 2 months. I just play scales now and hoping that if I keep trying, things will get better…

I loved the fact that I could still play a boogie-woogie bassline on the piano with my left hand, whilst my right hand lost control. Now I can’t play this smoothly either.

I also can’t place vinyl records on the record deck whilst DJing anymore. Am lucky in that I can still DJ with MP3s.

Don’t miss playing the violin that much, and was never that good at the guitar either! Saxophone was cool though, and I have a youtube vid of me playing on stage in Spain at a fiesta!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who has this problem. I have alot of trouble with my legs so used to love playing piano when I couldn’t go out but I also find pressing keys and moving smoothly is really difficult at the moment. I also find just keepy my wrists up really difficult too, anyone find this?

me too! I try to still play the piano, but I can’t play the same pieces that I used to and that is depressing. I am lucky that I can still play the saxophone and I play in a local community band which is fun. I notice that, in addition to numb and sloppy fingers, I also have slowed reactions. when I see the note, it takes me a split second longer to transfer it to the instrument. very frustrating, but I need to have music in my life!

I surprised myself last week with how well I played my scales! I’m not going to learn any new pieces because I have a really hard time seeing the music now (gr), but I like how my hand/fingers are still automatically moving to the right notes, even if I’m not actually pressing the keys down, hehe.
