Ashwaghanda or Rhodiela Rosea

Has anybody tried these herbs ? Thanks Rachael
@Stumbler

@rachaellouise , no personal experience, even though I've tried a few things! Ashwagandha gets this pertinent mention :- "The Multiple Sclerosis Society has reported that ashwagandha appears to activate the immune system, however, the society also expressed concern that this could be a potential risk for people with multiple sclerosis." Rhodiela Rosea gets various mentions as a panacea for a lot of things. This might be worth taking and seeing if you feel any benefit.

@rachaellouise - hi. I have PPMS and I have used Ashwagandha on and off for years. I'm not sure about the article @stumbler found, but in Ayurvedic medicine the herb is considered an ADAPTOGENIC, meaning it will calm down an overactive immune system or stimulate when necessary. In fact, it's considered so safe it is used and prescribed for children all the time! Years ago, after a consult with an Ayurvedic clinician, he prescribed 12 capsules of the herb per day!!!! ----- I took 6 in am and 6 in pm. I did this for a month, and felt well doing it, meaning no adverse affects. It seemed to help a bit with bowels, for sure with good sleep and general energy. We are all different and should have guidance with these things since other folks have different reactions. As stumbler says - it's about trial and error, unfortunately... (Aside from the fact that it gets expensive. ;)) Sadly - nothing has cured my MS and I'm still using my walker, and life is often hard. But I take Ashawandha every fall and winter - and for me it really does ensure a solid night's sleep. I'm on no meds and no pain meds - so that may be another consideration for other folks. All the best - Barbara
