Any lawyers on here??

Hi everyone! I’ve just graduated from uni, and last week started my new job in a large law firm. I haven’t disclosed my MS, because Its been fairly settled over the past year, and I did a summer of interning and the ms really didn’t effect things. I am noting what a fast-paced job this is though…

Continued: and I’m worried i might do myself harm? I don’t know, I think I’m just nervous. So I wonder if anyone else works in a similar area or has similar experiences?

In my experience, stress can kick off an exacerbation.
So, if you can avoid getting stressed out……..

I agree that if you start to get anxious you might get into trouble. I work in an I.T environment in the centre of London and I found being honest with my employer was the best thing I could have done. They can not discriminate against you but might ease the stress of them not knowing. You also do not have to tell them, they do not need to know if your not comfortable with telling them.

Try not to let it stress you because that could bring on symptoms. Take care and good luck and congratulations on scoring the job xxx

Hi Rachie

I’m a lawyer in the City and was diagnosed 5 years ago while a lawyer in the Channel Islands. I have not told any employers other than the one at the time of my diagnosis as it generally doesn’t affect my job. Really make a conscious effort not to get stressed in situations and your health will be better and you’ll do a better job too. Take it easy and enjoy each day and especially the weekends! Best of luck.
