NICE have cleared the drug Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) for treatment of Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in the UK, making it the first and currently the only drug that can help those living with the progressive form of the disease. Professor Gavin Giovannoni of Barts Hospital in London & MS Reporter Rachel, discuss the news and what it means for those living with PPMS.
Professor Gavin Giovannoni has an MBBCh, PhD, FCP (Neurol., SA), FRCP, FRCPath amongst his qualifications. He is the Chair of Neurology at Barts and The London School of Medicine. His research interests have focused around multiple sclerosis and inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system. His teaching focuses on clinical neurology and neuroimmunology.
