What’s a relapse?

Hi first time on here! Been diagnosed since may 2015. Advised there had been at least 5 previous ‘episodes’ according to mri scan but never knew! Luckily nothing since but struggling to know what is a relapse and what’s just progression! Get numbness and fatigue now and again but been getting burning sensations quite a lot. Currently feel like my face and arms are on fire.
How do you know? Any thoughts most grateful!

Hi @lauragran and welcome.

Your journey to diagnosis isn’t that unfamiliar, I’m afraid. 😕

Being diagnosed with MS is the start of a learning curve for you. So let us know if and how we can help.

And, to get you started, here’s a good definition of a relapse:-

Hi thanks for this. Woke up this morning with burning session away so feeling ever so slightly foolish! Panic over!
Thanks for the link. Will have a proper read through tonight.

A relapse is different for overdone as is your MS. You will learn in time what is ‘normal’ for you, and therefore when you are relapsing. Eventually you will probably k ow more about YOUR MS than your consultant but as a rule MS nurses are brilliant and Read Stumbler’s ‘s advice and look at that site. Hope all goes well
