How to improve bladder function

Thought I’d share what the MS nurse told me when going through my medical history last week. I’d mentioned that soon after diagnosis I’d had bladder issues of urgency and UTIs and had been on anti-cholergenic meds for quite a time. She then asked about exercise and I told her that I’d been doing Pilates for some years. She said that Pilates was THE best thing for bladder health and was undoubtedly keeping me problem-free now. She explained that all Pilates exercises are in some way pelvic floor strengthening, which is exactly what’s needed if you have MS. She recommends it to all her patients. She told me that she feels strongly about this because her background was in continence work so she saw these problems on a daily basis. She also said that if you have problems in both legs (so far mine’s only in one), you’re more likely to have bladder issues. Pilates isn’t a magic bullet but it may help a great deal.
