Constant UTIs…It's doing my head in!!!

Hi – have been self catheterizing for past 3 years and suffer UTIs on average every 3-4 weeks – anyone else going thru the same(?) and if so, just want to get your take on it also.

@spooney , it seems UTIs are an occupational hazard.

I take a supplement, D.Mannose, to try and prevent this problem. It’s been clinically trialled, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23633128 , with favourable results.

There’s another member, who takes a Vitamin C supplement at the end of the day, which works for her.

I have never self catheterized but I did have UTI’s one after another when I first diagnosed. I read a interview in the MS magazine of a well know urologist. He said to take a 1000mg Vit C when you go to bed, the Vitamin C burns the bacteria in the bladder while you sleep. I only take 500mg Vit C every night and get up at least twice to go to the bathroom and it still works. A 1000mg Vit C was to strong it made my bladder sore. There are some other products like Cystex but I haven’t tried them. Potter
