AZATHIOPRINE! discuss with me….

I will now be starting azathioprine, wich will take over the job of the steroids in the long term. I will have my blood tested every week and then every 3 months providing everything remains stable, also there sound like there could be some nasty side effects too.
Has anyone got any experiences you can share about this drug? and whats the blood tests for?

My lord.. Another crossover between my world of Renal and the world of MS..

Azothiaprine is an immunesuppressive drug developed over 50 years ago as a cancer drug.. Its commonly used in transplants (kidney etc) to suppress the immune system.
Its one of the 3 (steroids, Azothiaprine and cyclosporin) I’m all too familiar with. Its quite a strong drug.
Its a pretty harsh drug on the body.. I can’t personally remember the side effects. But knocking your immune system isn’t fun:(

The blood tests will be as it mentions in the link above. To check the levels of the drug in your blood, and your liver function. (Also means they can hopefully get a stable dosage.
